Awful

I lay awake last night trying to come to terms with the word 'destroyed' and the reality in the area around the Indian Ocean. We use our words so easily these days, and destroy itself doesn't seem to capture the enormity of this event.

For the people involved, it seems to be so much more.

Being a survivor seems to be as tough a deal as dying - I'd expect most survivors have lost family members, and in the areas where there simply is nothing left, how would you even beging to cope with it?

Taking a positive spin: recovery will take place, eventually. Not everyone died. The British appear to have responded quickly and massively. A global disaster requires a global response - could this be a catalyst for change?
