Random cupboard meal becomes culinary masterpiece
Something came over me Monday night. The new veg. box was due, so I had to use up the rest of last week's delivery (cauliflower, onion, broccoli, and whatever staples could be added).
This happens most Mondays and normally evolves into soup or a lame vegetable curry -you know the type, it's just cooked vegetables in curry-flavoured dish water.
Something else happened on Monday though:
The cauliflower evolved into a spicy, oniony, crunchy side dish.
The broccoli got thrown in a foil parcel with our one remaining salmon fillet
An onion got fried with rice and egg
Hmmm, writing it down, it doesn't sound that exciting. But there was something about it - it looked amazing: pink salmon, green broccoli, turmeric-yellow cauliflower, yellow egg and white rice.
And it tasted great.
So what's my point? Well, after years of store-cupboard randomness, sometimes things do come out great, and get you many plaudits from your girlfriend!
